Okay if you're traveling to the US and you have some time to shop then I
highly recommend Joann's Fabrics. For those of you from Australia/New
Zealand, think of Spotlight but on steroids in terms of fabric, etc. www.joann.com
Over the years, I have found Joanne Fabrics a great source of dress
fabric and now for quilting. Make sure you check out their website
before leaving (NOTE - LA, for example, not great on the internet cafe
front though if you have your own laptop/iPad lots of free wireless
places] and check out their weekly sales flyer (check the bottom of the
site) as you can often find some great coupons to take along with you.
Some of the deals I've found are by one yard (And yes people the US
doesn't do metric) get one for free or 50% off a specific purchase,
etc. It all helps.
hearth can be another great way to check man made fiber. Have a twine through the habotai silk fabric and lightweight that. Traditional cotton will certainly melt away little by little, curl and also extinguish on it's own. And it'll smell like burning up hair. On the contrary, bogus man made fibre, manufactured from chemical substance fiber may burn up quickly, stinking just like burning up plastic-type material and will dissolve into a glob. You need to be cautious when execute this particular testing. Burnt off fingers can make your own man made fibre buying experiences significantly less enjoyable.
